Anyone out there go skydiving?

It's a good way to relax, away from the stress of fish keeping. Let all your worries about Ammonia, nitrite, nitrate & Ph etc. drift away as you float on air waiting for the ground to come up and meet you. Repacking your main make a nice chance from the hard work of water changes, gravel cleaning & the like.

Sound fun? Go on give it a try, you know it makes sense!

I'd love to gve it a go, unfortunately (despite them making parachutes capable of safely dropping landrovers from planes), I am too heavy according to the 3 or 4 places I've contacted

Should be ok up to 16 stone provided you are of a reasonable height (BMI), either solo or tandem.

At our centre Jummy '5 Bellies' (Gazza's mate) did a tandem with our CCI. 32 stone between them.

no fear not jumpiiiiiiinnnnnnggggg but want to ask my girl wants to do it were can i get her a jump and how much i live near poole dorset

have a look here
http://www.bpa.org.uk/

All the DZs are listed. The closest appears to be Netheravon. Costs vary but in the region of £260 for tandem or £230 for solo. If she goes for a tandem the get a video of the jump approx £80.

It is posible to do it for charity where if you raise more than £XXX (£400 or so) the charity will pay for the jump.

British Heart Foundation, Cancer Research & Macmillian Nurses are 3 of many that organise charity jumps. The DZ may be able to give more names.

Enjoy.

im 14 5,7 120 ilbs. could i jump? ooh yeah im afraid of flying and have to take meds when i get on a plane...

Do you live in Britian? If so then the answer is no, you must be over 16 with parental consent or over 18 without it. If in the states then you will have to check out their rules on age.

PS I love heights but have a real serious fear of falling. I used to install CCTV & would (and still do) go white with fear on ladders, cherry pickers, flat roofs etc. Scares the living daylights out of me looking out of the windows of high rise flats (above the 5th floor). I'm NOT joking, it's is TRUE.

I wanted to do the tandem last year but my doc said NO :grr: I have MS and was going to do it on behalf of the MS society, I can walk and talk and am  because I want to do things whilst I still can. The MS society needs a certificate to say I am fit enough. Have a medical certificate from when I started my job and they passed me as fit (no exceptions) I just think my doc don't like me. Hmmmm wonder if I can use work certificate it was a doctor after all :good: think my nearest is in Oxford :good:

Try another doctor or pester him till he gives in :D

Seriously, take your doctors advice as even the best tandem instructors can't guarantee a soft landing every time & the last thing they want to do is hurt someone.

I'm not familiar with MS condition so can't say if a hard landing would be too bad for you. THAT IS the DOCTORS field of expertise.

What does MS society say, they have knowledge of the condition & may know of other sufferers who have done tandems.

At our centre we have have 90 year olds and some disabled (one paralysed from the waist down) and so have other centres. Go to your nearest centre and ask them if they would allow you to do a tandem. If they will then go back to the doctor with the information & ask him to reconsider his decision.

I'm a regular skydiver - jumped at Cark a couple of weeks ago :fun: . I see your home DZ is P'lee - one of the few UK DZs I haven't jumped at  - yet :sly: .

Oh man you are crazy  I thought the fish is what is supposed to be relaxing... No way am I jumping out of a plain

Knowing that the planet is rushing towards you at 120 miles an hour or so :shout: does have an almost Zen like way of clearing the mind  which is very relaxing :S .

It's also a superb hangover cure :good:.
