hello, i am thinking of some other bottom feeders besides cories for my 20gl. (if they can fit) and my LPS has lots of skunk loaches! yay!

how many should i get? do they get along with cories and danios?

Not with cories  Skunk loaches are cool but they become very aggressive to other bottom dwellers :/ I had two beat up cories after I got skunk loaches, but now they are all separated and the cories are healthy again :)

As Dwarfs has already pointed out, although small, they are really quite aggressive and will challenge fish much larger then themselves.

I like to call Skunk Loaches the little pistols of the loach world, they don't get along with fish in general very well and they definately don't like any other bottom dwellers besides them. So them and cories wouldn't work.

I have 3 skunks with many other loaches and all I can say is they are aggressive little buggers.

It is getting to the point where I need to rehome them. my advise is don't get them unless you have only skunks in the tank as bottom dwellers.

Mine tend to dissapear for like literally 3 weeks, not the best loach a person could have

I do like the skunk botias but like most of the botias they range from mildly agressive to complete thugs.

They can also be agressive to other fish too like dwarf cichlids and kribensis as they too hang around the lower regions.

How big are the ones you are thinking of re-homing The-Wolf?

The main thing i like about them is the clicking noise they make. Trouble is you mainly hear it when they are kicking off!

Botias live a long time too. A friend of mine had a skunk for 11 years and it got to nearly 5" in body length.

The oldest botia i know at the minute is a clown loach and it is over 13 years old.

Another one that is definately evil is botia eos. The one i had ended up in solitary. It would attack everything!

If I could take them I probably would, but I'm moving soon so that definatley wouldn't be a good situation. :dunno:

The-Wolf:-Well if you want to re-home them I would be more than happy to buy them from you.

I take it that you are in the UK. :D

They would go well with the two I already have in my 6' tank. No corydoras in there.

I must confess I am not a great fan of corys.

You will have to let me know how much you want for them and where you are if you are sure you want them re-homed.

Thanks

I'm not an expert or anything, but i have two skunk botias and a LOT of little hiding spaces. the botias have each set up a little separate territory in one of the hiding spaces. they don't attack the other fish unless they come in their hiding places, so maybe that would help.

Plenty of hiding places will hope a lot of different agressive species.
