Are they as nasty as they are made out to be community wise?

Does it not even out with a group of them?

It is true they are known for there feisty behaviour and attitude

IMO I would not put them in a community tank unless you choose the community very carefully making sure they are at least robust fish and fast swimming!

As far as I am aware one should keep them in groups of 5 minimum in order to spread any aggression and to allow the fish to form a natural hierarchy.

If you are looking to get loaches in your community tank Then there are better suited options depending on your size of tank.

Well I have 5 clown loach and a kuhli loach already along with 2 keyholes, 9 rummy noses and a royal plec. Would you say a group of 5 skunk loach would be ok

I do not have some of your stocking so it would be wrong of me say yes or no.

I have read many threads on this forum and others saying yes and no to stocking and there have been many cases were people have pulled of successful stocking that the majority thought would not be successful.

Of course there are things you can do to make things work better like adding a lot more hiding places for them remember they will be sharing them with your Clown loaches and Kuhli.

How big is your tank? the bigger the tank the more space you have for the fish to get out of the way of other fish.

I would advise if you are going to get a group of skunk loach that you have a back up plan just in case things do not work out.

Hopefully someone with more experience than I will post on this subject.

I would say the single Kuhli is probably quite lonely as you may be aware most loaches are very social fish that do require a number of there own kind to interact with just like your Clowns. I would recommend you think about adding to there numbers to start, but that is my humble opinion.
