Hi there

I've just come back from holiday and I've noticed my gold nugget looked quite pale and seems a little bit skinny.

Does anyone have any ideas on good sources of food I can give him?

At the moment I give algae wafers 3 times a week and some cucumber two or three times a month (only chance I get to buy it!).

Thanks
Pete

The only thing i can suggest is giving him cucumber a couple times a week

Bloodworm!
Gold nuggets are omnivores and require at least 50% meat in their diet.
Ours gets bloodworm, chopped prawn, sinking catfish pellets, hikari wafers and cougette (zucchini)

They also require wood to rasp on.

They like cucumber but it has almost no nutritional value and so should not be used as anything more than a treat.

Try him with sweet potato too. My clown plecos love it.

Yes, but just remember that the clown plec lives almost exclusively on algae - wheras the Gold Nugget requires a "meaty" diet.

Thanks for that, I'll be feeding him some of the suggestions above!

It's annoying, my other catfish has grown quite a bit and little goldie was the same size!

Can't say I blame him. I love a bit of steak too! :p
