My CT boy just keeps getting thinner. I feed him lots of live and frozen foods (To help get some weight on him), pellets, flakes as well as treats. He eats every bite of it, which is more food then my other boys get. The thing is...hes so thin! He's looking so sickly and it hurts to look at him because his head is so much thicker than his body. His tummy is always round with food and I try to give him 1-2 BW every other hour and microworms twice daily as well as the normal flake of food that all the boys get, two Hikari pellets and a treat. I don't want to make him sick with all the feeding, but he just won't gain weight and I'm worried. His coloration is normal as is his poop...

What can I do? :-( Anything for my little boys, if I can find it I'll do it...

Could it be age ? Do you know how old he is ?
I have one like that too and I'm not sure how old he is. He shares a divided tank. His buddy is nice and round while he is skinny as a rake - but as you say, feeds like a pig, poops as usual, flares and builds bubble nests - but he's just so awefully thin
I don't know either :dunno:

He's definately young. Only maybe 1 inch long in the body...maybe, but probably less so he is young. I got him from my LFS so age and previous conditions/genetics is questionable...but he's not old at all, that much I know. I just wanna cry... He won't flare for anything either, very skiddish unless it is for food. Mirriors, other males...nothing will make this boy puff up. (Unlike the rest of my fellas who flare when anything happens, door opening, cat running, me sneezing...) His bubble nests are kinda sad looking too...penny sized at most, only one layer of bubbles.

I know with animals that can signal tapeworms. Perhaps in fish it signals internal parasite??

If it is a really young fish...maybe that is why, and it's using all the food it's eating to grow up instead of out lol.

Or maybe it's like people..some people are just really thin no matter what they eat. :dunno:

No, he's not showing any signs of parasites tha I can tell b/c his poo is not all white and stringy looking.

I hope he's just growing. =3 Maybe I should have named him 'Phred' instead of my other Phred because he's what my boyfriend would look like as a fish. =3 Skinny-butt, make me so agitated to see him eat an entire large pizza and most of my medium one and not gain an ounce...

Hopefully he is just a 'skinny fish' not a sick fish...

It could just be that he hasn't put on his muscle mass yet. I wouldn't worry too much as long as he's eating and pooping alright. Just hang out and wait till he's full-grown. My females are very young and quite skinny, too.

My guess is fish TB. One of the symptoms is wasting, and every single betta I've ever had with the disease has shown that symptom first and foremost. I'd suggest getting some antibiotic food and offer that to him. If he refuses to eat it at first, offer nothing but that until he does. TB is difficult to treat, but antibiotic food is your best bet.

Hopefully it isn't TB, but I'd definitely try the food just incase.

Thank you so much everyone! I sure hope that it isn't TB, but will treat as such anyway just in case it is. My poor little boy. :( I will keep everyone posted later on to let you all know if the food is working.

Thanks again
