Skimming

hi, I have been looking in to setting up a 30 inches by 15 inches by 15 inches nano (or 36 inches by 15 inches by 15 inches) and am wondering whether I should skim or not.


I have looked around on the member's tanks thread and have seen that some 30g are unskimmed whilst some 15g are skimmed.

Atm I do not have a huge budget (please don't tell me off) and want to know if I should skim, and if I should, what skimmer. If anyone remembers ChrisC's thread about the DIY fuge I think I could do that if that would help against having to have a skimmer.

Skimming would only be necessary on a 30g if you stock heavily. At low stocking levels of fish especially skimming isn't really essential. Also, if you go with lots of SPS corals I'd skim, but those are a little out of the range of a low-budget tank anyways

yeh lol, ok that's awesome news. So how many fish is low stocking in that tank?

3-5 nano sized fish depending on what you choose
