Skimmer Question!

Hi, a mate is slowly taking his brackish tank up to full marine and is a little unsure of where and when to add a skimmer! I am only a brackish babe so am of little help!
He needs to know where the skimmer goes? He will not be running a sump so does/can the skimmer just go in the cabinet under the tank? He doesn't want it to be visible....basic question I know but I we can't seem to find an answer on line!

A lot of skimmers do have to be "in" the water either in the tank or a sump. They wont be able to put one in the cabinet without a sump of some kind but there are quite a few "hang on the back" skimmers available. My knowledge is a little outdated but awhile back the best HOB skimmers where probably the deltec range (search on google for deltec mce).

Depending on how the tank is built HOB can be a pita (if you have bracebars going all the way around the edge of the tank for example you often need to do a lot of modifications to them.
