Today I was cleaning tanks, and upon looking into the vacuumed water from my 2.5 Betta & Cory tank... noticed a bazillion red things that looked like little pieces of hair. They're probably even skinnier in diameter than a hair, and about 3/4 of an inch long each. As I watched, I realized the little buggers were moving! ECK! So in other words, they're worms. And I have no idea where they are from or why they are there! There aren't any in my other tanks, and the only difference between this tank and the others is that it has a live plant - a Java Fern. However, I've never noticed worms before and I've had the plant in there for months. Anyone know anything about them, what kind they could be, if they're dangerous? Any info is appreciated since I'm clueless. I don't know how to get rid of them either, I can't get them out with a net or anything. Thanks!

i never even heard of these, but i have seen these small white worms on my tank walls, they are about 1/4 of an inch long, and really really thin and they are white., no any thing aout these ones? sorry i couldn't help. :-(

Well, my first thought is bloodworms. You did say they were red.....if so, lucky Betta. Free live food  I have had them in my tank, and other then the flying around of the hatched flies, no big deal. I ended up having my Peppered Cories eat them all out of the gravel.....oh well.

Anyway, they will not hurt your fish, and if you want to scoop up the ones from a water change, your other tanks/fish will LOVE them :kana: Well, if you have other tanks...... Just looked and ou do :D Yep, feed them around your other tanks. They will love you for it.
