Just now i have got 3 corrys, i have had them for about a year. They are pretty small still which is fine, about an inch max i guess?

When in the LFS, i noticed they had some corys in which were pretty huge! maybe 2 inches? much fatter too haha

So do all corrys grow to this size, or would this have been a specific one? The reason i ask is that i am away to buy some online, and i want to ensure they are small! Also i would like them to stay similar size to the ones i have haha

Corys can grow to anywhere between 15 mm and 15ish cm, depending on the species.

(Also they do much better in groups of 6+.)

Yeh, the 3 will be getting an upgrade from my 90L to my 360L where there will be about 20 of them, so dont worry!

What species are the larger?

Since I don't work in inches you will have to bear with me as I give some cory names and general adult sizes in cm's.

Peppered, Bronze and the Albino forms of both will get up around the 6-7cm mark. Females as a general rule will be bigger and broader than males ( I affectionately call my girls shermen tanks

Pygmy Cory's stay around the 4cm size, and look cute as they beetle about the place shuffling into places the bigger guys can't reach or bulldoze through

Emeralds (Brochis splendens) can get up to 7cm, there is two other types of Brochis but they are less common, B.splendens are also a bit more flighty then say Peppered.

Sterbi get around the 6-7 cm mark. Beautiful markings and usually busy cruising but mine also like hiding under in the Bristle Nose Cave when they can get in there

And my Many Spot Cory's have always stayed smallish at about 5cm.

Brochis multiradiatus is one of the largest of the Cory look alike species. Females can get quite massive, although they usually grow only to about 100 mm.

Dianema and Megalechis spp. can get larger but don't look as much like Corys and are really quite different species.
