Size Of Light

im going to modify my hood to hold a 36w daylight compact t5

i just wondered if anyone knows how big the ballast is/where you turn it on/off with leads going in and out

and also how wide the tube is i know it 18 inchs long including the holder but not sure how wide it is

If it is a T5, then that tells you how wide the lamp is, it is 5/8", T8 is 8/8" etc. Yours will be folded in half so it will be twice as wide plus a bit more. Look up the specs for your particular lamp for exact details.

The cable from plug to ballast is approx 1.5m
The cable end cap to ballast is approx 1.5m
the bulb is approx 2" wide (end cap 3")

How long is your tank?

You can get a 55W to fit in a 2ft hood

very helpfull

its for my 24x8x8 planted nano but the hood im putting it in will only hold 17 inches (where the glass is so a 55w light would hang over and be pointless. When i do a journal you will see what im about)
