My sister has a Juwel 190 tank with platies, various tetra, flying foxes and bristlenoses. She’s lost three of her platies recently to the same symptoms – no obvious external problems, but rapid weight loss, fins held tight to body, swim bladder problems. She has read a book and seems to think it’s TB but I think it could be any number of internal illnesses but wondered if anyone had any ideas or tips to narrow down the problem or treat. Flying foxes, danios, cherry barbs, debauwi cats, bristlenoses all fine. I’ve tested the water and that’s fine, zero nitrite, ammonia, nitrate a little above tap water but not higher than 50 ppm.

Thanks
Andy

sounds like an internal parasite to me as well. Just because you said they were getting skinny. I would go down to your LFS and check different medications to see which ones can cure it. I'm sorry i don't have any medication suggestions, as i have never had to deal with that before!

With the weight lose it sounds like parasites to me as well. I think Jungle makes a real good product for parasites. Those nitrates are high also you need to tell her to start doing water changes.
