Well I went to maidenhead aquatics in Harlestone Heath and the dragon puffers that were there last time I went were still there looking cute as heck  So I couldnt resist I got one, but the I did not buy the other becuase it was partially puffed up and looked stressed! Anyway "puff" the majic dragon is sitting in his 30 gallon tank right now and he loves it...so much more room than his LFS tank. I know 30 gallons is not big enough but he's only a baby and I know they dont grow very quick but when he needs a new tank he'll get it. :D :D Just wanted to share the good news

Yay for Dragon puffers!
They really are very cute aren't they, with their big red eyes.

What is yours eating? Ours like to eat live & frozen jumbo bloodworm, cooked prawn, mealworms, mealworm pupae & live river shrimp.

The spend most of their time hiding in the java fern looking like dead leaves.

Here's two of ours

Hey Sir, well the LFS said they were feeding him frozen cockles and mussels so bought some of them, I went to get some ghost shrimp to treat him but there expensive roung here...£1.10 per shrimp!! Just a question do your dragons like a lot of current in their tank becasue my fluval filter is quite strong..

Also there is one puffer left in the store left would puff be okay by himself or should i go get him a friend?

They don't like direct current, but as long as they have caves or plants to chill in, then they'll be fine.

As for keeping them together, it's ok as babies but they become increasingly aggressive as they mature and may need to be separated.

Another member here, Clare, has two who would kill each other if put together.

On the up side though, they are very slow growers.

Ours will take frozen (thawed) mussel & cockle too, but prefer frozen prawns.

Ok well the outake for the filter is pointing at the surface at the mo...
Im definatley torn between going and getting the other puff, as they are so rare and it would be cool to have two of them..! Just have to wait as I dont have the funds at the moment, puff cleared me out...£25!!

When I dropped in a (thawed) frozen cockle puff locked onto it and took a really aggresive bite then spat it out and didnt touch the rest. He also takes no interrest in the snails that are in his tank..... :(

Don't worry, he will.

Puffers take a while to settle in and as Dragons are so inactive they can go without food for a while with no ill effects.

We had trouble getting ours to eat to start with, but it was live ghost shrimp & mealworms that got them eating. It's a good sign that he at least tried the cockle but maybe didn't like the taste. Try a mussel or peeled prawn instead, puffers are fussy little buggers.

well came back to have a look and there are two snail shells lying belly up with no snail in!! I also put some "freshwater prawns" in but there bloody quick and keep aluding poor puff
