Hi! :D

I recently changed the substrate in my aquarium from gravel to sand, well, around a month or two ago now. It looks great! The only problem is keeping the substrate free of debris. With the gravel I could plunge the siphon into it and get all the muck up, but the local aquarium guy said I should use a smaller siphon (which I did) and skim the surface to suck up the debris.

It didn't work!

All that seems to happen is some of the sand tries to get up the siphon.....

How does everyone else keep their sand clean? I have bogwood in the tank, which flakes quite a bit, and is starting to make the tank look messy.....Any help would be appriciated! :D

Hey there i had the same problem when i first changed to sand and i found that no matter what your going to get some sand sucked up, using the smaller siphon(or just the hose) works great, if your getting to much sand try holding the nozzle up a little more. Hope this helps.
