"Singing" Betta

Okay, so, I'm sitting at my computer desk, typing away, I pause, and here this whistle and clicking sound.. I look over at the betta on my desk, he is nose up, popping out bubbles (only one or two) and making a clicking sound... (He was about an inch and a half under water) It was actually quite pretty, and HE didn't seem at all alarmed that he was doing it. Bloody cool.

I wish I could have caught that on voice recording or film. Unbelievably cool.

Anyone else have a singing betta? Or do I just have a really cool fish? XD

They always start with the singing. Then the talking starts. Don't let him talk you into doing anything you don't want to do.

sounds like you just got some special betta! lol...the only noise i ever hear mine make is a clicky noice from them swallowing their food...when they chew it or whatever....you definetly gots a wierd betta! lol.

No no, I'll do it willingly He even got a new plant because he LOOKED at me. (and he is absolutely adoring the plant now.. hes currently taking a nap in it)

I just thought the singing was really, really cool. (Especially as I caught it was him in time to WATCH him doing it... fantastic XD He looked so zen when he was doing it, too.)

Maybe he was calling to his little friends who are in the big tank where he isn't...

Who knows, but it was definitely adorable and scored him a LOT of points towards really liking him

(He was the charity purchase.. the not-quite-so-up-to-it replacement for my female I had to return.)

Hmm... You know... I COULD just go out, buy another bowl, and then put two or three females in the 10 or so gallon divided section I have.. Its -well- planted, and I know a place where I can probably get a few sisters that already play nice together... Hmmm...

Nah, then I'd miss out on the boys throwing a fit.. Oh well

Yep, Most of mine do that aswell.

Its like a loud Metallic Clicking sound.

Took me a while to figure out where it was coming from at first

It took me all of three seconds to figure it out on my end... Sitting next to him really makes it LOUD. XD It was either the fish or the monitor, and the fish was doing motions to match the clicking, so..
