Hi, i resently went to the fish shop to buy a couple of glass cats to go along with the ones i already have in my tank.
They told me they didnt have any of the type im looking for but instead had the glass cats that a very simular, but slightly bigger.

Can anyone tell me what these are, or post a link about them as i cant find any info on them anywhere!

They are the EXACT same shape as a glass cat, except the top half of their body is brown, and the bottom is see through and they have bright red cheeks! They are slightly bigger than an average sized Glass cat, thiking back, i probably shouldnt have brought them before researching, because i have no idea if they will get any bigger, and if they do what size they will get! So any info or help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

From the description it sounds like a Glass Knife Fish

Nah, its definitly not Glass knife fish, i wish i could get a picture of it, but they only come out in the dark and then i cant take a picture!

But they are EXACTLY the same shape as a normal glass cat, they are essentially the exact same as a normal one, but slightly larger, is brown at the top and has bright red cheeks.

I will try to get a picture of them tonight, but it is difficutly.

I don't know what fish it is, but after looking up the family that glass cats belong to, Kryptopterus... I stumbled upon this: http://fishbase.org.cn/identification/spec...2&areacode=

I had no idea there were so many variaties of glass cats / sheatfish.

EDIT: Is it this one? Kryptopterus macrocephalus, http://fishbase.org.cn/summary/SpeciesSummary.php?id=11991

That looks like you have found the fish i have! there are 2 more on the list which also look very simular, but im pretty sure i have the ones you put in the second link! The Striped Glass Catfish. And thankfully they only grow to 10cm max, which is fine, (the other 2 grow to 18cm and 27cm, which would not have been ideal for the tank i have them in)

Thank you very much!
