Simple Question - Should A Betta Tank Have A Lid?

Yes. There are too many incidents with bettas found dried up on the floor  and since they are natural jumpers, every tank needs a lid :)
you could buy another lid... or make your own.

bettas are talented jumpers and although I've never had one jump out of the tank, I've had them jump dividers. Many other members here have come home to crispy bettas so best plan of actions is keep the lid.

YES!!!!!!! There are many members on here with posts and examples of having their bettas either jump out or jump dividers which is even more dangerous. So lids are considered a must usually. However with my experience I have never had a betta try to jump out, but i'd rather be the safe person then the sorry person.

Yes. I don't always, considering there's about a one inch gap and the betta would have to jump at a very strange angle to get to the ground, but yes. I did have a jumping betta once, for the first few nights in her tank, I hear a lot of splashing. And all of my bettas will jump a good inch out of the water if I have food on my finger, so I can see how they could get the floor.

Yes! I left one spot uncovered near a heater and the betta jumped up and out. I did not find her in time to resuscitate her. It was very sad because the accident was preventable.
