My tank was cycling well so have added our first fish. I love the silver tip tetra and had researched them knowing they could be feisty so got 5 to share out the bullying but they have settled nicely into my 42L tank it has plenty of plants and each tetra has claimed a little territory. The LFS advised Guppys would make a good addition but watching the boys behaviour (akin to hoodies!) I think Guppies would get bullied and then some by the little rascals! LFS said add 5 guppies 3 days after introducing the tetras. Don't think I will be taking this advise!!! Not sure if I would add anything else in due to the tetras being so feisty but if in the future I hoped to add other fish (think our stocking levels are ok but according to some sites tank community calculator things we could add more) Any Suggestions on likely tank mates?

Tank Size 2ftx1ftx1ft (Juwel)
42Litres to fill
Ammonia 0mg/l
Nitrate 15mg/l
Nitrite 0mg/l
Ph 7.5
Hard water area
27Degrees centigrade (heater is difficult to maintain lower temps can keep 27 constant tho)
internal filter
good aeration +3 live plants

Current stocking - 5 silvertip Tetra

This photo was a nightmare to get!!! I am quite chuffed as the hoodies move quick!!!!

ETA- As they have set up territories went to local fish store for advice from a chap I trust for stocking advice (unfortunately this is not where we got the fish from as they did not have silver tips in at the time) he was of the opinion we have too many fish of the same sex and that is why they are so territorial. He advised 3 black widows as they would help settle the tank does anyone have any thoughts on this? I took some water for him to check and he was more than happy with the levels and said we could add the black widows in 1 week. Or that we should rehome some of the tetras, but from what I have read they do better with 4 or more in the tank. Any Thoughts oh fish gurus?
ETA2-Been to fish store I got the silvertips from they suggested more plants and if they do not settle they will take them back as a group. they said that black widow terta not a good idea.
So much conflicting advice!!!!!
Lots of reading of this post but no replies some advice would be greatly appreciated.

Okay, that's about 15g. I'd had silver tips, and I had 5 males to 3 females, and the females were chased a lot and were stressed. You can tell males and females apart quite obviously. The males are very gold, like in your pic, but the females are more silver. It's pretty obvious when you see them side by side. I would get more females than you have males. So if you have:
5 males - get 5 females OR 5 more males(any more and I think you'd be overstocked) if you get males you will have a very active tank.
4m, 1 fm - get 5 females (so you'll have a total of 4m 6fm
3 males, 2 fm - get 4 females (3m 6fm)
2males, 3 fm - get 4 fm (2m 7fm)

Adding black widow tetras will probably make the black widows get picked on., guppies would probably get nipped as well, because of the long fins.

Either way, none of them will calm the Silver tips down.

NIce pic, BTW, I could never get a good one of my silver tips, Here's the best I have, for those interested:

Thankyou for the advice I thought they were all boys after checking lots of pictures. The Fish store says I can return them and as they are obviously not happy that may be what I have to do  They did not seem to have any females there but i will check when I go back today. They are great little fish but if they would be happier with females not sure how manageable that will be. I will be trawling the fish shops today for a solution.
They are really difficult to photograph!!! Took loads of photos to get that shot!!!!
