I posted a thread the other day regarding the behaviour of my silver tip tetras. Tonight they are really going wild. I have to put one of them in a breeding trap as the other 4 have been chasing him/her around the tank & trapping him/her in corners or in the plants. The victim is a silvery colour & the others are gold, does this mean they are different sexes? Apart from the colour they all look the same. I was lead to believe they were peaceful fish but my tank is anything but peaceful at the moment as the rest of the tank look to be getting stressed.

Can you post water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph, what size is the tank, how may fish and which kind.

IME
silvertips are one of the most aggressive tetras.
females are the silverish ones and males are more bronze/gold.
how many do you have and what size tank?

I would agree to an extent that SilverTips can be decidedly aggressive.

They certainly will not be bullied by other fish, even fish substantially larger then themselves. I used to keep about a dozen in a 6x2x2 with 100-150mm Striped Barbs and some apogons - the tetras ruled the roost.

If you have enough space, a few more might calm things down, or at least spread the action.

Water stats are ok. Only problem with tank is algae. Tank is 180ltrs which I believe to be about 45gals.(uk) So far I have 5 wmc minnows, 5 leopard danios, 5 kuhli loaches, 4 panda corys & the tetras. I am building my stock up slowly & will no doubt aquire some livebearers from my sons tank. Must just say things are quieter so far today. Fingers crossed.
