So this week I had an overhaul of my 80l planted tank, and decided I would give silver tip tetras a go, so I bought a shoal of 6 to see how they looked in the tank. The next day I visited a different LFS to browse and thought I'd up the shoal to 9, so happily purchased another 3 tetras...
Was gazing at my tank a minute ago and noticed...the 3 new additions have adipose fins, supposedly absent from silver tips!
A quick google came up with a PFK article describing Hyphessobrycon brumado, a new species described in just 2010, which seems to be what I have. They seem to behave the same as the silver tips so far and they are getting along nicely, however I was wondering if anyone has any experience with this species?
I'll probably get a few more, but if they turn out to be big, nippy, plant-eating tetras like some other Hyphessobrycon tetras, they will have to go in my community tank!
Will try add pics shortly if anyone's interested .
