Hi All

My silver sharks have taken to swimming with each other in close proximity - circling each other top to bottom - rubbing themselves against each other - and gently nudging each other - is this a courtship ritual ?

Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks

Phil

The behaviour you describe is common in bala/silver sharks but as to its purpose no one is sure, the species has not yet been bred in captivity without the use of hormone stimulants and their courtship has not been observed and documented in the wild. The activity could well be a pre spawning ritual but could also be that the fish are establishing a pecking order with the smalller fish respecting the larger ones dominance.
