Silver Shark Jerking Around Behaving Iraticaly Looking Uncomfortable

i noticed las night that 1 of my silver sharks seems to be darting around a lot and jerking about it looks like its itching or uncomfortable i notices a couple of tiny white spots but i don't no if it would be the illness white spot as they are only vey tiny and i can only see about 2 or 3 over its whole body. I also noticed a tiny rip on its dorsal fin any help would be gratefully received i'm new to this

Your fish have ick. What you need to do is medicate the tank. I find rid ick plus to be the best. I think you should also add some salt if you have no fish in there that is sensitive to salt.

When you see the spots fall off while medicating don’t be fooled this is when the medication works, keep medicating even when the spots fall off.

Also make sure you remove the carbon while medicating.

Ick is treatable if done properly.

Fish will flash because there gills are irritated by the parasite. So you need to get some meds in that tank.

can you also give us some more info on your tank, what size is it, what are your water test results and what fish are in the tank?

generally ick doesn't show up of it's own accord, it comes because there is a problem with the tank so you need to get to the root cause as well as medicating otherwise it'll just come back. Give us some more info on the tank and we can help diagnose the root cause as well.

i have a 200 litre tank i haven't done any tests yet i'll do some tonight and i'm in the uk the fish i have in the tank are....

2x plecs
2x clown loaches
2x chillids
3x silver sharks
4xplattys
4 congo tetris

treat your tank as soon as. Be aware of the amount you use, as clown loach wont like the treatment and you will have to use less than the recomended amount!! There will be instructions about the amount to use for scaleless fish, so just follow this. Also, if you can, add an airstone into the tank as bala's like lots of oxygen and any treatment you use will de-oxygenate the water!!

i think you probably have too many fish for the tank which is why you are getting health problems, please can you clarify exactly what species of plecs and chichlids you have and how big all your fish are at the moment

Excellent idea to treat the loaches in a different tank. Depending on the medication you are using it's best to treat the loaches with half dose of medication, Read the instructions but usually for scaless fish it's half dose but read the instructions to see.

Loaches are scaless therefore make them more susceptible to diseases and are very sensitive to water parameters if they are not in a cycled tank.
