As you may remember from my previous post my boyfriend has silver sharks in his tank. However after reading some of your replies he has decided to not get an angel fish. What can you recommend to go with the silver sharks? The tank is 180 litres in size and he will have 3/4 sharks.

Thanks

I have a Severum in with Silver Sharks, the Severums pretty cool and seems fine with the sharks

They can grow up to 8"

Actually 14" is the common adult size, they are fairly slow growers so a 180 should be fine in the short term but not as a permanent home. I have 4 adults in my 125 gal with an Oscar, an FM and some Plecs and i wouldn't put them in anything smaller. :/

Really? I understood is was 8" from what I read up, quess ill be needing a new tank if they grow that big!

Silver (bala) sharks will reach the 12 inch mark within 3 to 4 years after reaching 8 inches within the first 18 months, tank size and health permitting they should live another 6-7 years in which time they will continue growing slowly reaching a average maximum size of 14 inches or so. For their long term health an absolute minimum of a 4x2x2' tank is needed and ideally a much larger one closer to 6x2.5x2' in dimensions should be provided for full grown fish.

Ideal tankmates are other large growing peacefull fish such as clown loaches and large plecs.

I don't know what othr people have said about angels, but i have 1 large angel, and 2 litle ones, in with my 2 silver sharks both at 6".

I have no problem with them what - so - ever. I also have clown loaches too in there, and theres not been any problem, but i guess it depends on the temperment of the fish and the size of the tank.

hope you find something to suit :D
