Was fine but 2 mins later when I looked he was floating on the top twitching and gills still moving. Seperated him from the other fish but he looks dead, still twitching though? He has not lost his colour or anything or suffering from any disease why is this, does anyone know or experienced it?

Need alot more info really.

How bigs the tank ?
How long has the tank been running now ?
Temp
PH
Ammonia
Nitrite
Nitrate

Are his gills red - any other external symptoms.

Can you increase aeration in the tank ?
Might be wise to do a water change if you cant test your water. Maybe 30% change and then get a test kit and test the water ASAP.

What other fish are in the tank with the shark ?

The tank has been running for 9-12 months, I have 2 other silver sharks, all three are around 3 inch long. I have tested the water and the ph is 7.5. The amonia and nitrate are spot on. Also tested for chlorine and oxygen which were in the right levels. Temp is checked daily and nearly always 25c I have 2 air stones one at the back and one near the front. My tank is a juwel rio 300 litre tank, external filter with 400-600 litre capacity and I have 56 fish, all community fish. Well planted 2 large bogwood and coconut shells etc for hiding places. No symtoms or red gills.

I did make a mistake by leaving the light on for 10 hours over night! I dont know if it could have affected it?

Other fish in the tank are

10 blue neons
4 cherry barbs
2 golden barbs
2 silver sharks ( had 3 but it died :( )
2 rummy nose
2 harlequin rasbora
6 silver tip tetra
3 glowlight tetra
2 common plec
1 male betta
1 featherfin catfish
1 sailfin molly
1 dalmation molly
2 black neons
1 red tail shark
2 male guppies
3 white neons
4 female guppies
4 platys
1 leopard danio
1 pearl danio
2 chinese algae eaters ( these are going out of the tank once they get bigger because they get a taste for fish! )

Would appreciate any tips or help on the situation.

Thanx

Can you post water stats as the tank looks overstocked to me.

I have to agree with Wilder but also the combination ...
Amale betta with skittish balas does not seem good to me

Common Plecs get too big too and well it does seem too much of a mix with livebearers etc etc.

I think it maybe that there is too much and too little room to move.

Water stats will also help wilder.

Post your ammonia / Nitrite / Nitrate readings and Wilder will wave his magic wond for you :p
