Hi folks, hope someone else has heard of this. I have a male silver molly, about 2 inches long, who was until 2 days ago a huge bully! His tankmates are 3 male and 2 female mollies and platys. I've been meaning to get more females, but just haven't gotten there yet. The tank is a 12 gallon eclipse, PH is always high from the tap 7.4, all other parameters are fine. This is an established tank. Lately the silver molly has been very agressive toward the other males, I understand that behaviour. I'm guessing that he scrapped with one of his tankmates and didn't come out on top! He's swimming vertically and does not appear to be using his tail. A little swishing, but no real movement. I suspect he has a broken or injured tail. I have moved him into a largish breeder net because now that the bully is incapacitated, everyone wants to ram him. Has anyone had a fish recover from this type of injury? He is safe from attack right now and I hope he will get better, but my question is, 'will his spine heal or should I put him down? :( '

Thought I'd update. My molly is doing a lot better. I'm moving him back to the community tank since he's swimming so well. I guess he was just a little beaten up! :D

hi i got same problem witha female silver mollie only mine had now given birth , so hopefyull ant advice u get wil be usefull to me

gareth,
I put mine back into the community tank today and he started with the bullying again. He and my two black mollies looked like they would kill each other, so had to put the black mollies in the tetra tank for their own safety. ;) Everyone has settled down now finally!

well so far my silver mollie is on the bottom of the main tank i think shes shattered so aoo i can do is hope she picks up during the night
