Red gills can be down to poor water quality so need stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.
Also gill flukes can cause the gills to look red and inflamed, any signs of flicking and rubbing against objects, or laboured or increased breathing.
That's really dosn't answer anything, need water stats, plus is the fish laboured breathing or flicking and rubbing against objects.
Pull the gill flap back to see if you can see any parasites behind the gill.
