I have 3 silver mollies and one of them seems to be very small and thin and going black and was seperating from the other two. Also in the tank are 2 Angels, 2 sword tails, 2 clown loaches and a few neons.
I have put the 'ill' looking mollie in a net breeder for now, just so I can keep watch!
Does my mollie have some kind of disease, and if so, how can I stop it spreading to my other fish and how do i treat?
I have not introduced any new fish recently, and the tank is due for a water change, but I was advised that as my sword tail was ready to give birth, to leave the water for now. (my sword tail has either soince had her fry and they have all been eaten without me seeing, or she has aborted so I am going to do the water change tomorrow)

Did it start on the fins? Is it slowly creeping farther in? It could be poor water quality. Do you have them with some salt? I had one that had the symptoms I described. It's called China disease, no one knew how to treat it, (even on any of the fish forums) Unfortunatley, he died.
Do a water change and add salt and see if that takes care if it. Keep me posted.

China disease is one of the deadliest (if not the deadliest) fish disease out there. Unfortunately it is uncurable. If you are sure that this is what your molly has I would suggest that you either quarantine it and hope for the best or euthanize.

Thanks for your help guys -
Lets hope its not China disease, cause I will be sooooo sad if any of my other fish get ill.
Poor mollie will be placed in a plastic breeder, cause I think the net breeder she is in now is pointless as it has holes in it! So finger crossed. if it is china disease, the quarantining will sort it out if its not too late.

Only used this site a few times when I have had problems, its a great help that all your fishoholics are at hand ready to help!!!!!
