Hi,
I have a 3ft tank which has just finnished cycling (about 1 week ago) :D i have x2 Danios, x4 neons,x2 mollies which all get on well together. Obviously i want to add more fish slowly in time, I really like Silver Dollars but will they be ok in my tank? i dont want them munching on my other fish.

Dont have any plants, so i should be ok then? Anyone had any experience with Silver Dollars.

They are supposed to be an all around good fish but are subject to Ich. Also they are fast growers and plant eaters.

I have 3 silver dollars. They are very cool fish, very peaceful and amazingly interactive with me. Every time I go up to the tank, they come to the front and if I put my hand on the glass, they will actually follow my finger or if I walk to the other end of the tank, they follow. I enjoy them immensely and they get along great with my other fish, see my sig. Mine are still small, about 2", got them at about 1.5". They get to be about 6". They also do best in groups of 3 or more, a lone silver dollar will not thrive and may stress out.

They will get along fine with your tank occupants.

Good luck!

No, you can't. Beleive me I tried. -_- They get too big for the tank. You need at least a 55 gallon for them to be comfortable. ;)

yeah, the only problem is your tank is too small. i have 4 of them, in a 55 gallon. the need at least a 48" long tank. the longer the better, due to their shape, they obviosly dont need a wide tank, just long. so please save yourself (and the fish) the grief of overcrowding a tank, and dont put them in

3ft Not big Enough? well i spose so when they get 6" long the ones in the pet store are about 1" long didnt know they got that big - shame coz they are lovely fish. What other sorts of attrative fish could i add over the next few weeks? Also what the limit of fish in a 3ft tank?

I'd get some Gourami's or Dianos or Tetras. They're all awsome fish you know. As for the limit, it depends on the fish. You can do the 1 inch per gallon rule.

I didn't notice the size of your tank. I agree that 3 ft is too small.

Dwarf gouramis are also really cool fish and they would be okay for your tank, they get to be about 2". The powder blues and flames are beautiful.

Good luck.

A school of harlequin rasboras would look really nice.

They are my favourite fish. And because they dont grow very big, about 1.75 inches, you could have a big school of them.

Paul.

Just looked at pictures of the Dwarf Gouramis, totally in love with the neon blue males...Stunning will have to try and find some.

The powder blue ones are even more stunning, imo :) Of course I am biased because my one powder blue gourami, Blue comes right to the front of the tank every time I am near and practically takes the food out of my hand when I am feeding them. The others are coming to the front as well, but he was the first and has become my favorite of the tank. :D They are wonderful fish.
