I'm looking at getting some silver dollars for my 180l but i already have a gold gourami, various tetras and a boosemani rainbow - are they compatable???? has anyone had had problems with silver dollars or am I better choosing something else.

Silver dollar get pritty big, im no expert but I think you could kiss your tetra goodbye :p

lol they squabble among eachover, get 3 of them and leave them to it. they shudnt bother anything else.
mine were very peacefull and lived with some hellraiser cichlids, so they can stand up for themselves:p

Silver Dollars are vegetarians so they shouldn't touch other fish but they will eat any plants you have. They also are very very skittish and can often damage themselves on tank decorations so avoid any sharp objects.

180L is way too small for silver dollars, IMO. They may not grow massive but they are very active swimmers and need lots of open space (I'd say at least a 5' tank). Also, they need to be in larger groups than 3.. more like 6+

I agree, to an extent. They grow quite slowly and imo you could easily keep them in a 3ft tank for quite some time, I personally kept 3 in a 2ft tank for upwards of a year and they were perfectly happy. However I have since moved them on into a friends 6ft tank which they enjoy. Definitely work well in larger groups though, but as has been said they do damage themselves quite easily.
