My silver dollar has a small very small missing part of his fin at both the tip of his top fin and his tail. It may be nips from the other silver dollars but i dont know why he got them. Is there anything i can do to help them grow back or be fixed.

20 views and noone has said anything. dont read it if u dont give a <Mod edit>

i would guess it has been nipped. i would suggest you treat the tank with a mild antibiotic, just as a precaution, these things normally mend themselfs.

:( not every one here knows every thing!!!!!

With my experane with silver dolla's is that the fins do not grow back very well if ever...

I've tried loads of different stuff but they just dont grow back.

that surprises me! i recently bought two dollars, they both had nip's out of their tails, three weeks later and you would never know they had been injured. it just goes to show that there are no hard and fast rules in fishkeeping! no two community's ever seem to react the same.

lol typical!!!

I have 4 tanks with them in and and thats the case with all of them.

gee, my Dollars are so, well, err, you know, i never have to deal with any problems from them.as a result i probably have not done enough research on them. i did have one very badly hurt by an Acara. the poor thing lost nearly half the scales on one side, and a fair amount from the other  . the damage started off as a white stain on the fishes side. after a while the patches became "fluffy" and fell away leaving, pure pink flesh. to add insult to injury the poor fish paniced one day and smashed its nose on the side of the tank!!!! well i was lost so i decided to treat the tank with Tea Tree oil, and keep a good eye on the fish. after 3 months the fish was totally healed, leaving only a shadow where the wounds were. :hyper:

Incidentally the Dollar and the Acara, seem to have made up!!! there has been six months since the attack. they now cruise together and seem ok. the Acara was new at the time. lol i guess she settled in! :good:
