Hiya, we have 3 silver dollars in a busy tank and would like to set up their own tank as they are quite nervous. we have a 3ft space for the new tank and were wondering if it woudl be possible to have more than 3 SD in the new 3ft tank or would this be too crowded for them? Also would the height of the tank be a factor?

Many thanks

I keep silver dollars as well. Mine are about nearly the size of a saucer now and I have 8

a 3ft would be too small for any silver dollar when they grow and the trouble is they really do need to be kept in a larger group than three. They go crazy when nervous ad I very rarely get that behaviour in mine now cos of the larger group I keep

I'd say you need a 5 ft tank in length to keep a group of 8 or so

thanks for the reply. due to size constraints i will be buying a 200 ltr tank 45cm (H) x 100cm (W) x 40cm (D) so by accoutns i can keep 4 in there?

you could but they wouldn;'t settle when full grown, trouble with silver dollars s how skittish they are, they really need space and keeping just 4 defeats object as they look good and are happy in bigger group.

if your getting tha ttank why don;t you try something else

:stupid: my one is about the size of a toast plate, the one above a tea saucer and one down from a dinner plate  :stupid:

I watch come dine with me all the time and I have never heard of a toast plate!!
