I have just sold my 29g tank and am planning to upgrade to a 75g with fluval 404 filter. I want to put 5-6 silver dollars in (what is a good number for them?), and don't know what else will work well. I don't want balas, and would prefer not to have barbs. I was thinking about some dwarf gouramis, but will those do ok in that tank? If not what is something that would fare well in this tank, or should I just deal with it and go with some tiger barbs? Also what would be the best bottom feeder in this situation? I don't really like corys, so I will probably get clown loaches if those will be ok. Also get 1 of the smaller pleco varieties. Let me know if you guys have any ideas.

Many fish can be kept with them. Why not some Angels? Kribs? Rams? Firemouths? I love the Clown Loaches, so expensive though. Danios would work, some sharks, Gouramis...there are tons. SD's wont ususally bother any other fish, unless they can fit in the SD'smouth, and even then its pretty rare (from my experience)

Hiya!!!!

I wouldn't keep firemouths with SDs......< , but Drobbins might :p Too aggressive for my brood of SDs!!!!

Just keep away from any nippers!!! Aren't barbs sort of nippy???

Dwarf gouramis would be great!!!!!

And instead of cory's have you thought of Otos!! Aren't they sort of like bottom dwellers

In a 75 gallon if you wanted Silver Ds AND Clowns then I would just get 4 of each.... any more and it may be a HUGE bioload in MHO. But you could get some gourami's in that mix too....like 3 or so!!! That would be a beautiful peaceful tank!!!

Good Luck!!!

>>> Aren't barbs sort of nippy

That is a somewhat sweeping statement! Most barbs are quite peaceful. Some may take a nip at a flowing fin, and a few can be quite aggressive, espeacially when not kept in appropriate sized groups.

There are hundreds of barb species, of which maybe 10 are really troublesome. There are many characins/tetras that are far more agressive and with teeth at the front of the mouth, are far more capable of inflicting damage.

Ooooops sorry!! :*)

I just always seem to hear of people saying they are nippy!!! Never kept any myself...I wasn't really "telling" that they were, but more "asking"!!! :*)
