hi,does anyone on the site keep dats, especially silver dats.i bought one about a week ago and got him to eat his first meal today.any info, experiences or pics would be nice thanks mark

I have kept Danoides Quadrifasciatus ( it is much easier to say silver dat :) ) And the microlepis type Dats ( Indo's )

They ( Silvers ) are supposed to need salt in the water as they are a brackish fish, but I kept mine in hard alkaline water and it thrived
He was fed on lancefish, prawns, cockle earthworm and mussel, the wider the choice the better
I kept mine in with my rays and Arowana and it was not bullied, it will eat smaller fish than itself, they are NOT a community fish

my lfs has another silver the same size.would it be worth buying to encourage the other one out a bit more and make it feel more settled,or,would 2 be likely to fight?????

I've seen them housed with multiple individuals with no troubles before. As long as you add it slowly and you have a big enough tank... i'd do it :p.

Dats are best kept as a lone specimin in a large fish community, in a tank of a minimum of 80gallons, but if kept in groups a minimum of 5 is suggested as they get agressive towards their own species.

I'm looking at getting a wider bar S.Tiger for my 120gallon, great looking fish the Dats
