How important is it to have the CO2 bubbles blown around the tank rather than letting them just rise to the surface?

Do the bubbles need to touch the plants for them to have any effect or does the water adsorb the CO2 and the plants take it from the water.

I've just set up my first CO2 system and i'm not sure.

Thanks for any help.

The longer the CO2 bubble is in the water the more CO2 gets disolved into it.I have read that having a "mist" of tiny CO2 bubbles is very good for some plants and can get rid of some algae (whether this is true or not is another matter). Ideally you want it blowing around the tank as it means more CO2 is getting disolved. if it just raises right to the surface you lose all that CO2.

Thanks Barney, i'll put it beside a powerhead. :good:
