We all know our beloved bettas love to perch, nestle, and lounge on these wonderful man-made creations. But yet..we are normally limited to the choices we can select based mainly on price but also on the actual selection that most stores offer. (especailly on plants that are over 6" tall...those can get reallllllly pricey at the pet stores...on here they are very reasonable).

You also get a discount when you order more then 3 of the same plant. Like if you buy 3-6 you get a 10% discount, 6-10 you get a 15% discount, and 10 or more you get a 20% discount....that comes in quite handy when you're stocking a female tank..or buying plants for all your individual or divided tanks and you want them to all look really nice and coordinated  ).

I've come across one of the best sites I've seen (and trust me I am a big time price comparison shopper before I buy annnnything lol) on the internet. The prices, selections, shipping charges, and ship time beat any stores we have around here or any other ones I've seen online.

And the BEST part of all these plants come with a weighted base..so you don't have to worry with having gravel in your tank to hold the plants down..if you don't want it in there. (ok ok..not all of them come with the weighted bases..you have to make sure you read (most say they come with a weighted base..there are like 5 plants on the whole site that come with those stupid gravel "cups"..but they sell "weights" to put in those..so HA! take that..you stupid gravel cups!!! ).

Only thing is they have tons of plastic plants to choose from too. Not that there is anything at all wrong with plastic plants, it's just we all know those aren't really all that good for our betta kiddo's..since most plastic plants are too hard and may rip their fins...so you have to read the descriptions carefully..they may or not say if they are plastic ..but they will definately tell you if they are silk (so if it doesn't say..you can assume it's a plastic plant :)). Penn Plax and Sea Gardens have the most Silk to choose from...and since you can look at plants by manufacturer..that makes it alot easier shopping.

The place is called That Fish Place <---click meeeee!!!, also is in conjunction with ThatPetPlace as well..as they have all types of pet supplies not just for fish :).

I just spent $25 (that includes shipping) on 15 plants for the new girls Wuv is sending me :D. (that'd be hard to do at your LFS or LPS or Walmart..when 1 nice silk plant there usually costs you anywhere from $3-$7 each!!!!)

Here's what I bought:

SeaGardens: Red Crinkle Leaf 4" wide x 6" tall

I already have 4 of these...they are in my 22 gallon tank (the one I made for 8 of my guys). I really like them and figure they will offer great places to hide or rest..as the guys love them. Plus the leaves have maroon tips on them...which I think really give the tank some contrast..instead of just green.

Sea Gardens: Brown Balansae 4.5" wide x 6,25" tall

I thought these would look cool and give them places to hide out...since when they get wet they will open up and fan out...so they can dart back and forth inbetween the fronds. It says brown..but they look like a dirty green to me lol.

PennPlax: Cardamine 6" tall

These are really cool plants. They are tall and have leaves sticking out. I already have 4 of these...my guys love to get in them and snuggle up in the leaves. The ones I have though are only single stalks..these have 2..which I thought was really neat..and keeps me from having to buy double the plants. Soooooo since I bought 3 of these..I'll actually be getting 6 plants :D.

Penn Plax: Rotala Serrate 6" tall

These looked cool since they are 3 plants in 1...so the girls can dart inbetwen the stalks. Or just lounge in the leaves if they wanted. I liked that they weren't plain ole green too..I like the color of these alot.

Penn Plax: Anubias 3" wide x 3" tall

I have 2 of these already in my 22 gal. tank. I have it up against one side of the tank and they love to swim in and under the "roots" that it comes with. The roots are real soft plastic..almost ruber like..so they don't rip fins. Gives them a good place to hide (which is a quite popular hiding place at WC time, for the guys who have them in their stalls lol). so I thought they'd work well in a female tank. Makes a very good front tank plant..since the fish like to hide under there..you can see them :D.

....... -_- you know what...they should pay me for all that .

Great site. THanks for the info.
I just spent about an hour looking around. They have live fish too. I think I'll wait a little while, and make up a list. THey have FRee overnight shipping for purchase of $150 or more. :D

You may want to be careful with the red crinkle leaf one pictured. It has sharp plastic shaped leaves at the tips (they hold the other leaves on). I had this one and my male tore his fins on them. You need to cut the tips off to prevent this.

Great site.

I've got one tank with silk plants, but the rest have real. TBH, lighting is quite overrated, one has a small desk lam near it, one is getting a lighting unit but only because the lid is opaque. Cabomba grows easily and provides great cover. It also looks nice :)

That Fish Place/That Pet Place has had links put up several times in this forum. Besides being a cool place to shop online it is pretty cool to go to in person! They also hosted the Philly club's Betta Show in May. And, best of all it is only about an hour away from me!!!!
:D

Although with gas prices lately it might just be cheaper to shop online. :/

Good site!!! THey have better plants than at my lps! I know where I'll be shopping when I get paid...... :D

Did anyone see that they sell betta persephone, betta unimacula, and betta falx for like $6????

http://www.thatpetplace.com/LiveFish/Produ...tas/Search.aspx
And roundtail betta? This is what I was asking people about a few months ago? What is a roundtail betta? Because they list VT separately????

Also, when I've gone there I've never actually seen all these varieties actually in stock, so I don't know if you try to order them, you'll get them.

I've heard of the plakat being referred to as a roundtail, but then I've read on some genetic sites that there actually is a tail type called a round tail which is longer, kind of like a delta but with rounded edges instead of strait...but sticks strait out, not hanging like a VT.

I'd love to see someone order one and see what they get. I've had too many bad experiences with shipping fish to try that again. :/

Mine don't seem to have any sharp edges on them...I looked after I read that. Wierd. There is plastic up there...but it's not hard or sharp..it's just rounded off..and it's relatively soft..like the stalks (well duh Jennie, I guess it would be..since it is the stalk * :look: * ).

Glad you like the site...I've spent mucho denero ther already lol..and I'm sure I will spend more in the future. I've actually mentioned this website several times before...but until I had several dealings with them I wasn't going to rep them too much. But I have ordered from them 3 (this is my 4th) times now and so far I have had nothing but good dealings with them.

I've been seeing people complain about silk plants for a whie now. Either they aren't right, they're ugly, they won't stay in the gravel..so I thought it about time to work on a little Write Up to help some folks out. And I've tried live plants..I can't keep them alive ...not the ones I want too keep up anyways. :)

Woohoo! Cheap plants! :D
Sea Gardens is just about the only brand of silk plant I ever buy. They're the most realistic ones, in my opinion.

They should be right up your alley then..they have several on sale...I bought 2 styles from them this go around..both only cost me .90 cents a peice..since I bught 3 each lol. You can't beat .90 cents for a silk plant..with a stick .

Got my plants Monday WOOOOO now I just need to make a new tank

wow i jus made a forum asking where a cheap place to buy a CT is...welp i found it! :D 6 dolla! wonder how much shipping is. thats where they screw ya
