Ok, I am in the process of trying to build a betta heaven and upgrade my bettas to a divided 20 gallon. I want silk plants in it, but no LFS around here is familliar with the description, and I was wondering if anyone could reccomend specific brand names, or any large chain that carries them? Thanks!

I've been wondering if there is any reason you can't use the flowers and plants used in arts and crafts? There isn't much of a selection of silk plants where I live either, but if there are any arts&crafts plants that don't have metal stems in them, I don't see why they wouldn't work just as well! (& I suppose they couldn't have any glue in them) I'm going to check out the crafts section at Walmart next time I go.

im not sure of the brand name, but i found the same "silk" aquarium plants at walmart and petsmart. my fishies like them! :D

Same here, WalMart and Petsmart. (The same plants at Walmart are a little cheaper though.)

Are they meant for aquariums or are they "fake" plants used to imitate real ones (the kind kept in flower pots as opposed to aquarium plants)? I ask because I wonder if there's a difference.

my petsmart has an isle full of fake plants! top half is plastic and bottom half is silk  they have like 3 million different choices

Or you could order online. "That Fish Place" sells them.

Be careful using artificial plants from Walmart and craft stores. They can leach dyes into the water that are harmful to your fish. The silk plants the pets stores sell have been made with dyes that won't leach. Walmart does carry fish safe silk plants in their pet department.
