How about when someone does a signature to long (as i previously did) and it needs to be changed, pm them first to let them know to change it within a certain amount of time like 48 hours for example..

Recently i did mine to long (although i thought it was within the guidelines) and you deleted my full sig, i lost all the links and editing i did on all the colors cordinating and order etc.. these link was purely from this forum and so others could click them for easy acess to things like (cycling, breeding etc.) and now it means i have to re do it all again and his could of easily been avoided..

I guess the picutre i added was the problem with size, so why not just delete that or again, pm to say what the problem was and i could of sorted it rather than lose it all..

I just think simple things like this could help in the future, especially when all it takes is a pm..

Better go sort my links bk out :( (took me ages in the first place  )

ps, i do understand why it needed to be changed..

The signature rules are pinned in every main forum in plain sight so if people cant be bothered to read them or just ignore them then why should we bother to take the time to send a PM. The rules also state that signatures that are too large will be edited without notice.

Well going by other sigs i have seen, mine wasnt as long as thiers.. good attitude btw love it

Seems strange you got your sig deleted like that steady since I see loads of people with sigs to long...Is mine?
edit...yup, but only by 1 line

Just looked at 1 new post and I have found 2 other sigs over the guidelines by very long time members, both having over 1200 posts.

To be honest, it's more or less a matter of whether the mods feel like going on and deleting your signature at that particular time.

Actually, another thought strikes me. The "5 lines of text". That is 5 lines on what resolution screen? My MacBook Pro will put far more text on one line than a work computer set to 800x600 (or under). If I run it with Firefox maximised then it will fit even more (but then I can't see chat).

I don't think it matters how big the sig is compared to the screen res, as it should be in comparison to the rest of the page not the screen. Hence no matter what res your screen is at, a sig is always the same size when compared to everything else on the page...

You miss my point

If I have a computer with only an 800x400 res then 5 lines will have half as much text as if I have a screen 1600 pixels wide. What is a perfectly valid sig on the latter of this example is twice as large as would be allowed on the former.

Is that Stalin in yours, andy? I'm not very good at sight-identification of 20th century Europeans despots.

In my sig?

How dare you? That is Brian Blessed!! (and yes, that statement does deserve the second exclamation point, quite possibly showing the volume he himself can garner). I also believe the seated one may be the lead singer from Stereophonics, though that could be as accurate as creationism.

My avatar is still a dancing Hitler with disco floor, however :D

God, Blessed described as a "20th century Europeans despots". That is incredible, I really did laugh out loud.
