sideways clown loach

I remember reading something somewhere that said these fish tend to lie on their sides - which can be worrying for new fish keepers.

yeah its just their way of resting. many new fish keepers ask this question.

Plus, he's lonely, you need at least 3 clown loaches to have a happy one, and 5-7 is better yet!

i have 6 clown loaches and i see them always sleeping on there side, theres nothing to worry about its normal ,after all i sleep on my side also hahahaha

yea, don't worry about it..i always see my clown loach in that position... i have had many panic attacks seeing them in that position.

My clowns sleep on their back most of the time. That REALLY freaked me out first time I saw it. Now they've taken to sleeping vertically in the folds of my onion plant, and using it like a bed.
They still make my heart jump every now and then. Truly bizarre yet entertaining fish!!!

Firstly - you do need to have at least a trio of Clown Loaches, they're far happier with some company of their own kind.
I have four in my tank and they are constantly on the move - except when they decide to 'play dead'.
It's actually well documented that it's one of their odd antics and all they're doing is having a rest in a most 'unfishlike' manner. Mine do this all the time and believe me - it's nothing to worry about.
I have a Simlastone cave in my tank and one of the funniest things I ever saw was one night when two of them were laid 'side by side' - 'on their sides' at the back of the cave!
