Side of aquarium cracked is it a concern?

Hi please see pictures. This is a ten gallon. Do I need to replace or fix this?

It is not pretty, but I think you will be alright. Being a small tank, not that much pressure. Definitely keep an eye, but it may be fine indefinitely.

Can whatever is underneath it be ok with a slow leak of 10 gallons? Petco did have 10 gallon tanks for 12.99 last I heard.

Ya it’s on a kitchen counter top. Slow leak would be ok. Unless I’m away for a week!

Silicone aquarium sealant. It won't look pretty though.

It won’t do much good. Aside from the chip that Francisco saw, you have linear fractures running along the seam, most visible in the last picture. You need a new tank.

You might try masking below it and putting some thick epoxy in the crack. It might smooth out the sharp edges. Just clean up any overfill with a razor blade as soon as possible--before it hardens.

The water inside the tank will never push the silicone sealant thru to that outside chip IMO. If you were ever to see a crack forming from the chip then it is a different game

I think most of us saw the chip and not the linear crack from it that goes almost the whole height of the tank near the seam. It’s visible in the third picture when you open it and look closer. That’s a bust waiting to happen.

The cracks on the outside as they are right now aren't that much of a risk. But yes, you could use silicon sealant. As long as the silicon sealant on the inside is still intact, I wouldn't be worried about it. For it's a small tank with not that much water pressure.

No matter what size tank, or pressure involved, a crack in an aquarium is a worry for any hobbyist.

£12.99 for another one from Petco and that worry is gone. It's a no brainer in my mind.

Oh, and 10g of water might not sound a lot....until you have to clear it up! Trust me, it'll be messy.

Just a chip out of the corner . I would sure keep my eye on it but not worry too much . I’ve seen that plenty of times , even in stores - most often in stores , and it never was much problem .
