so today, while i was out, i decided to drop by walmart and pick up some more tanks for my bettas. Of course i checked out thier betta sections as usual (nothing new, found about 4 bettas in tiny containers)

i met an employee there a while ago, we remember each other so we always chatted about fish and when their next stock will be in and such. But today he told me that one of the bettas were thrown into a cichlids tank a few days earlier, and the chiclids completely TORE HIM UP. He described (in too much detail), that virtually every piece of fin on the betta's body was torn apart, and all that was left was a body trying to swim :-(

he said he isolated the betta nad put him in an empty tank by himself, but today it just mysteriously disappeared when he came back to work. Probably died and was thrown away.

I can't imagine the IDIOT that woudl do something as stupid like that. It made me really mad. I can't imagine what suffering that poor betta went through, being thrown in a cichlids tank and practically eaten ALIVE. :-( :-( :-(

anyways, sorry if i disturbed you guys, just really had to get it out of my system

Awe thats sad :( poor lil' guy.

I saw one today at wally, he looked very healthy (wally's new trend it seems, here anyway) but he was stuck to the filter. I couldn't find anyone to tell of course. He was pretty too, bright red w/ a light blue edging on his fins.

Did you see that betta I got the other day from Wal-Mart? The one that was all torn up? I found out that someone had put two together in cups and one had died and I bought the other one. Made me so sick. I watched him die last night too. It was the most violent death I have ever seen. I would've put him out of his misery had I not been so shocked watching the whole thing.

I complained to the manager today, but I doubt anything will happen. I told him in they are going to stock living creatures they need to treat them as such. If something like this happens to a fish in their care it needs to be treated, not put up for sale. I asked him, if someone knocked a stereo on the ground and broke it would you sell it with a note saying "Hope you can fix it...we sure as hell ain't gonna!"

Ugh, just makes me sick to my stomach. :/

i saw that poor betta of yours sorrell  it's terrible that they dont' even treat fish as fish :(

i remember about 2 weeks ago me and that employee had a converstaion about abusing bettas. He said that the other day, some kid decdied to throw 3 bettas together in a cup and watch them fight! imagine three bettas in one of those tiny walmart cups :S

the employee told me that 2 eventually died, and one was still alive, he showed me it, looks like he was on his way out too :( it really makes me mad because i happen to really like bettas, and i can't believe poeple would mistreat them like that, its' just...disgusting. I hope i never see one of those kids or i'll probably throw him in a tank of piranhnas

i still feel terrible for that betta, it was by for the most horrific story i've heard.
