One of my ropefish jumped out of the tank some time this morning. When I got home at 10:30am and went to feed him, I only saw the female. I looked everywhere and eventually found him on the floor. At this point, I am not sure how he managed to escape...or how long he was out...

He is however alive, barely. I put him in the hospital tank (10 gallon) with a teaspoon of Melafix. I am not sure what else to do. He is floating upside down in the tank but every few minutes. he'll swim, then just flop back over and lie still.

Is there anything else I can do for him?! Please help.

Thanks.

What are your test results in ammonia,nitrite,nitrate,and ph, to make sure he hasn't jumped out because of bad water quality, you need to add something that will help with his slime coat, turn light off and leave him in a quiet place, dosn't sound to godd if he is floating upside down, good luck.

pH = 7.4 (higher than usual-usually around 6.0-7.0...not sure what caused this).
Ammonia = 0
Nitrite = 0
Nitrate = 12.5 (like usual)
Phosphates > 10 (like usual and have used tons of phosphate removers to combat this problem and it is NOT WORKING!) :(

Probably your ph then, you will have to find out what is causing it, what is your tap water in ph to your tank water.
