Hi,

My three peppered corys have slight small gold markings on them. They show no ill effects and seem quite happy and active. Is the gold colouring a disease or just part of a peppered cory's colouring?

Have you looked up velvet disease?
Yes i have, and this is my fear that it could be that. They seem very active and eating well. I have no quarantine tank so will this disease be easy to treat with other fish also in the tank?

Hi you might want to post in the emergency section anyway but please read the guidelines and post all relevant information to save the folk having to ask you unnecessary questions!

Good luck :good:

i dont think its anything to worry adout as some corys do blend into the sudstraite and suroundings
especially peppered corys
if they was ill they wouldent be active or feed as offten :good:

regards dave

Cheers Dave, they do seem far too active to be ill. I will keep an eye on them.

Hi Sausage :)

Velvet disease is not usually something you have to worry about with corys. The gold coloration is probably part of the natural coloring of your cory.

Thanks for that, i have looked up a few peppered cory pictures on the web and many have this same sort of colouring, i guess i was just worrying over nothing afterall.
