Last night during a water change one of my oto's started spazzing out, it looked like the muscles on one side contracted (it was in the shape of a crescent moon). After a few minutes it loosened up and looked almost normal, just a little week. I continued watching last night and he began to suck on the walls again, but every once in a while he'd just float to the bottom and 'rest'.

This morning he was on his back on the bottom and I thought he was dead. When I turned on the lights he flipped over and swam a few inches, not he is 'resting' on the bottom again.

Anything I can do?
(oh, just looked, he is upside down again, but still alive)

A few minutes later.....

he looked dead so I was going to get the net...when I put the net in he started swimming around some, but I could tell he didn't really have control of where he was going.

.....

I had a bristle nosed pleco die of startvation recently.

On the morning of the day he died i found him in the same shape on the floor of my aquarium, like he had a massive cramp in his side but he swam around a bit.

Is startvation an issue?

I don't think starvation is an issue. There is plenty of algae in the tank and the other 2 are doing great. This is the smallest of the three.

No idea sorry :(

I've lost two otto's but both within a few hours of returning from fish shop, they just went quiet and died, no idea about the symptons you've mentioned - sorry :/

Perhaps someone will come up with a idea soon, hang in there

Well, I ended up taking him back to the LFS before he died. They traded me for another one and said they'd do what they could for him.

Thanks for the help though.
