I have 2 golden Orfe in my pond, and have had them for 12 years,so they are around 10in in length......One of them is sick.....his dorsal fin looks red and swollen, and his tail fin red and very ragged. He is feeding, but keeps going in a corner and laying to one side.......The rest of the fish in the pond look very healthy. Has anyone any ideas as to what could be wrong please......I am wondering if a frog perhaps damaged him when they were spawning.....
I have taken a picture of him today....but not sure how to show it ??
Thanks in advance...................

Do you know the water parameters? Can you test the water if not? It sounds like a bacterial infection, maybe Fin Rot.

Ryan I dont know the parameters of the pond, and dont have any test kits...only for my tropical tank......I did think of fin rot.....I wonded if its possable to isolate the fish and treat it?? I dont want to treat the whole pond, as I have no idea of the water volume, and also the treatment for fin rot is quite harsh I think?? especially as all the other fish are very healthy....

It would be good if you can put the fish in a hospital tank/pond while medicating. But it should be fine to treat the whole pond, the medicaitons on the market today are designed to be safe for the majority of pond animals.
