hey all i hope you can give me some tips if youve had this experience with MBU and whitespot.

so heres how it began.

20 days ago i noticed and small white spec in PIKA's side fin, knew right away it was white spot, water tested and all levels are spot on so somewhat confused how it broke out. no new fish no plant introduction no new ornimants nothing.

i treated tank for white spot and done 20% changes everyday, but it got worse, spreading to her upper tail fin, then to her lower abdomen.

i made arrangements for my DP's in my other tank to be looked after by LFS tested other tanks water and everything fine and DP's had no white spot.

in other tank i increased heater temp up to 30oc on the dial to give me 28oc water temp then introduced PIKA into DP tank.

been following same proceedures between both tank and main tank PIKA's tank is fine no other fish has broken out in it or any other illness, and i have now stopped treatment and all is well going on 5 days since stopping treatment.

so pika's in the DP tank i'm treating as rec by the leaflet the temp is up, NO CARBON IN THE FILTER OR POLISH PADS OR AMMONIA REMOVER FILTERS!!
and she still has whitespot, it hasnt spread and hasnt receeded it's not fungal i had that with other fish this is white spot, small sugar grain sized. i iknow all puffers are prone to it, but surely it isnt this hard to clear up, anyone give me any tips hints or point me in the right direction as to what i'm doing wrong here?

the only other option i'm thinking is salt baths but dont whant to go down that rout, MBU puffers do not do well with salt.

PH 6.9. 20-50% water change everyweek, all food hoovered after she finished. and tank cleaned of any foul after. she's (i call her she but we can never tell) about 7 inches long, her colour is now a fantanstic deep yellow and deep black top half and a brilliant whit under with a yellow strip on both sides. tank water temp is normally 26oc. she isnt rubbing and her gills are normal.

lost cant keep her in that tank perminantly its too small for her.

bump any one know hot to rid a puffer of white spot that i havent already done???

Hi, 28C is still a bit too low to be effective against whitespot, do you have another heater that you can throw in? plus an airstone to compensate for lack of o2

Also just to get some background info, What other fish did you have with the MBU? and what size tank was it originally in?
