Hi Guys & Gals,

One of my female Guppies has been acting very strange, hovering above the substrate mostly. Not been right for about a week, noticed some redness (blood vessels maybe) under the skin have been treating with Mxyzin (sp?). Seems to have cleared up - now she has one red spot on her side about the size of a coffee grain. Forgot to mention like the other Guppies she is pregnant, could this been linked?. Guppy is also bending her tail downwards and seems to be breathing a bit faster than the rest. Any ideas?
Please help, water stats;

Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 25

Thanks, Lee.

I have a female guppy with a slightly 'crooked' spine, but this [i have been told] is due to holding eggs for too long, and the weight mutating her slowly.

I'm not sure about the red spot though, it might be something to do with that as well, but heres a link that could help...

Any reason why she would be holding onto them? - could she be stressed?. Tank is fully planted and as I only have 1 male she shouldn't be getting bothered too much.

The link doesn't work, any additional info you can give would be great!. Thanks again.

The redness and now the red spot is septicemia and she will need treating as it can soon kill a fish, anti internal bacteria med by interpet, though once it has progressed very hard to cure.

A bit off-topic, but I've been wondering about something, could you give me some advice.....

A lot of the common probs seem to be internal bacteria, or general fungus related, and if I saw anything like this I would be keen to get meds started sooner than later. With this in mind, and the fact I work shifts and cant always get to an LFS, what is worth keeping in stock??

I hear Pimafix and Melafix is a good combo for bacteria/fungus/parasites as a general treatment. Or is Interpet better stuff??

Which is best to keep in, Pima- and Melafix, or Interpet No. 9??
