Hello!

I'm a new member to this forum but long time fish enthusiast!

I have a ghost knife fish who is ~9 years old. Many years ago he had an injury to his long fin which healed with a slight scar.

However recently I've noticed that the scar has turn a light brown/white colour.

His behaviour remains fairly normal, although I would say he is less active than his usual self. I've attached a photo of his long fin with the problem area circled.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what this could be?

Many thanks!
Michael

Hard to tell what’s colour and what’s reflection.
Can I also add that it’s a very ghost-unfriendly tank. They want open space with a strong current, ideally. If the markings are just different coloured areas it may be stress.

Nice male btw, most tend to be females.

Thanks for the suggestion! I added an extra air pump to the tank and pushed the temperature up to 26-27c and he's already more active.
