I HAVE 2 GOLDFISH AND 2 BETA'S. THEY ALL HAVE ICK! I HAVE BEEN USING WARDLEY WATERCARE ICKAWAY AND IT SEEMS TO BE DOING ABSOLUTLY NOTHING. MY GOLD FISH'S AND 1 BETA HAVE EXTREME CASE AND THE OTHER BETA HAS JUST STARTED TO GET IT. WHEN I SAY EXTREME I MEAN ( I DON'T KNOW MUCH ABOUT FISH SO I WILL TRY HARD TO EXPLAIN IT)THE FLESH IS STARTING TO DRAW UP FROM THE ENDS OF THEY FINS AND BODY AND 1 GOLDFISH IS NOW ONLY SWIMMING WITH 1 FIN. I HATE TO LOOSE ANY OF MY FISH, BUT IF YOU GUYS DON'T THINK THERE IS ANYWAY THAT THEY WILL LIVE, DO YOU KNOW OF A WAY I CAN GET RID OF THEM PEACEFULLY (PEACEFULLY FOR THE FISH). AND AS FAR AS THE OTHER BETA THAT IS NOT SO SICK WHAT SHALL I DO. IS WARDLEY WATERCARE ICK AWAY A GOOD BRAND. THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP. :byebye:

Are these fish in the same tank? If so you will inevitebly loose them all. Have you removed the carbon from the filter? What kind of filtration do you have? Size of tank? Water parameters? We need more info to help you.

thanks for responding..........yes all of the fish are in the same tank. all of them look so bad i didn't know if removing the only one that is doing the best will help. and i mean by doing the best the only visiable signs are his color is disminishing and the ick is around his eyes pretty heavy, and the flesh around his tail is just starting to withdraw. i dont think there is a carbon filter in the pump. this was my deceased grandmothers tank that she has had for years, so i figure everything was in order. when i clean the tank i open the filter and remove the cotton sheet and wash that good (with plain water). my filter is one that sits in the water with bubbles that come to the surface. i hope that also answered the filteration question. it is a 10 gallon tank. and i dont know what you mean by water permiters. thank you for your help. :byebye:

You need to take a sample of your water to he LFS and have it checked for ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates. I am guessing you did not cycle the tank. How long has it been running?

Bettas cannot live in the same tank as goldfish. In fact there are really no fish that should be with goldfish except other goldfish. They are messy fish that give off a lot of ammonia. Ever notice at the LFS that in the tanks with goldfish there is always a mesh baggy with little white pebbles in it? That is to help absorb some of the ammonia these fish put off. This is most likely the cause of the betta being sick. Then it spread to the goldfish. You have a choice here to purchase another tank, it can be small, or let the betta slowely die. They make little 1 gal containers for bettas. Walmart sells them for like 3 dollars. Then treat the betta in there. Please read this page for info on ich and treating it. Ich info
