Charlie is not doing well. About three months ago he got a bad case of columus. I used some antibiotics and cleared it up... or so I thought. It came back about 6 weeks later...I treated again... and I got lucky Charlie was fine. Last Wednesday I did my bi-weekly cleaning ( I do water changes every week) vac'ed the gravel and noticed Charlie didn't look so good. That was the 26th. Friday I noticed that his tail was coated with a whitish slime. I am treating again with antibiotics, the slime is almost gone but so is part of his tail. He is eating again, but still not as active as he usually is. Water stats are all normal. Hubby did over feed him a couple days ago, but nothing else out of the norm. Keep your fingers crossed

Just curious, but shouldnt he be moved to a nursery tank? Mabye the gravel is cutting his tail, my betta has no gravel in it's tank for that reason.

He has never had a problem with the gravel in the tank before. My "gravel" is small smooth stones. Charlie is not having a problem swimming, and can get to the top of the tank with out problem. If that changes I will put him in a small container with a little water, so he doesn't have as far to the top.
