I want to state this, these ARE NOT my goldfish. A relative on Facebook posted these photos and is asking for help, their knowledge on fish keeping is so so. I’m currently trying to get more info out of them like tank size/livestock/maintenance routine. For now can anyone help me identify what he flipping flapjacks this is on the eyes?

Are there live plants in this tank. Goldfish of any type need live plants to make them happy and part of their diet. Can you post a photo of the whole tank please.

He doesn't have a photo of the entire tank. He only has the photos the owner posted. The eyes look damaged/badly injured. Ask the owner if there are any other fish in the tank? This looks like the work of another fish... it MAY be an ornament or filter intake that caused this damage. Those messy flakes all over the tank make it hard to see.

I’ve asked them and am awaiting a response, so far I’ve advised on a large volume water change and then water changes every day. If she responds to me I’ll be advising her further, as well as advising removing the gravel bottom, I’ve never owned goldfish but don’t they root through substrate in search of food? I’d imagine that could damage their eyes as well

I’m posting on behalf of a relative on Facebook of mine, so far they are unresponsive to my questions, I don’t think they like being asked as it may make them seem irresponsible?
