Sick Betta!

I purchased a male betta from petsmart two days ago, and I have not seen it eat. I'm feeding it nutrafin max, flake food specifically designed for bettas. It appears to be healthy otherwise.

Hi Hsieyun,

Perhaps your new betta is not used to eating flakes. Flake food is nutritious but some bettas might not like it. Its like trying to force kids to eat their veggie.

Click Here and you will realise that Faith's trademark Apache betta (from Betta Talk) hates flakes.

Maybe your betta misses its usual diet.

Finding out what the shop fed the fish will definitely help.

Try some frozen foods. Brine shrimp. daphnia, bloodworms. They were probably fed a pellet food before getting to the lps.

When I get a betta, it won't eat for the first few days. It gets used to being in its new home and gets familiar with it surroundings (that's what I think). Then whe they realize everything is ok, they'll chow down! But yeah, 5 out of my 6 bettas hate flakes so you can check what other types of food you can give it (Hikari brand is very recommended, never used it but apparently it's great!)
